Whatever happens, stay who you are...not just a good soldier, but a good man.

You told me you thought I was meant for more than this. Did you mean that?
Every word.

can we talk about Legolas in the back tho

I feel like I need to rewatch the entire series just focusing on Legolas.

It’s worth it.

Did Orlando Bloom spend the entirety of the series trolling with his facial expressions?

YES. YES HE DID.

It’s like a photographer went out on the island, La Grande Jatte, and took a picture of a lot of people strolling in the park. The humanity of it, I thought… These people don’t know they’re gonna be immortal. And so I’m gonna write a song about that. That it’s gonna be outside of themselves, and they’re gonna be singing about what themselves and they’re doing. But they’re gonna be acknowledging that they are immortal. It all leads to the word forever. Which is- when I wrote that word, I cried, because I thought, that’s what it’s about. And I then decided, that I would do it all in one sentence. It’s a lyric that’s in one sentence. Uh, because there is a kind of… I don’t know how to put it. It’s like it’s eternal, it’s infinite, whatever, whatever- it’s what I feel about art… It just has no beginning and no end. It’s just one thing. Then I could see that they would all be singing that one idea. Um… That here we are in a park. And we’re gonna be here forever. That’s why it has that… It’s got an almost funerary beat to it, you know, it’s almost a funeral march. But it isn’t quite. It’s a triumphant march

Alright alright alright alright look at this song. Not A Day Goes By from Merrily We Roll Along by Stephen Sondheim, sung by the glorious Bernadette Peters.  So in it’s original context, this is sung by a woman to her ex after a brutal break-up during their first time seeing each other after that. (since this particular musical goes backwards in time, you see the same exact song later sung by the guy and the girl but they’re singing it when they’re incredibly being together but since you know the end it hurts you like being shot in the gut repeatedly)  ANYWAY though that’s amazing in an artistic sense and all, what I absolutely ADORE about this song is when you take it OUT of it’s original context.  Here’s some things to think about when listening to this song:

  • Singing this at a funeral
  • a parent singing this to a child they walked out on
  • a chiild singing this to a parent who walked out on them
  • basically any place where one person left another

And that’s why I fucking love Musical Theater.
